Problems solved by technology

Also, the system is automatic, not intelligent, and does not take into account how many people are waiting and reserved on a certain floor, and whether some of these people are disabled
Also, the system is inflexible and not able to calculate a specific and faster strategy to evacuate everyone in the building using elevators
Another shortcoming of the system is that it does not take into account the irrational psychological response of a person in an emergency situation of high panic
Also, as shown in Figure 8 of US 6,000,505, for example, signs located inside the elevator car and at each elevator lobby are not sufficient to clearly guide panicked people into the elevator in the event of an emergency

Embodiment Construction

[0021] figure 1 A multi-storey building 1 with a preferred embodiment of the system of the invention is shown. Building users and residents enter and exit the building either by stairs 2 or by elevators 10 and 10'. The elevators 10, 10' may be a single elevator, one of an electrically connected group of elevators, or the elevator cars may be multi-deck. The elevator car can be positioned at a selected landing 26 on the floor. The elevator can be entered and exited through the door 3 at the platform. A landing is an area of a building that is part of, eg, a ground floor lobby, sky-lobby or floor access. Elevator shaft doors 3 lead to different floors in the building, wherein building doors 6 are used for communication between different rooms and spaces. The elevators 10, 10' are controlled and driven by a control unit 5 which may exist eg in a computer or a set of computers connected to the elevator drives and motors. The control unit 5 can be conveniently connected with...

Abstract

The present invention is directed toward a method and a system for emergency evacuation of building occupants and to a method for modernisation of an existing building with said system. It refers to a multi-story building (1) having a plurality of floors and with at least one elevator (10) being positionable at selected landings (26) of the floors. Preferably, first means (9) are provided for measuring the number of persons and second means (7) are provided for detecting an emergency condition in the building. At least one control unit (5) is provided for determining or for estimating a number of building occupants in the building, the control unit is defining at least one evacuation zone (13) in the building during the emergency condition. Based on this information, the control unit is defining at least one designated floor (14) in the building during the emergency condition. Then the system evacuates the building occupants with the elevator car and / or a stairway from the evacuation zone to the designated floor.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a method and system for emergency evacuation of building occupants, and a method for modernizing existing buildings using said system, so that in the event of an emergency in a multi-storey building with multiple floors , allowing the use of elevators as a reliable means of exit and evacuation. Background technique [0002] Often, elevators are not considered a reliable means of egress in the event of a building fire. "Do not use elevators in case of fire" signs can often be found telling building occupants to avoid elevators and use stairs instead. [0003] The Eurocode proposes that EN81-73 provides rules for the use of elevators as a safe and secure means of exit and evacuation in the event of a fire in a building. The elevator includes a fire alarm function which is activated by the fire alarm system. Depending on the fire alarm system and the management of the fire alarm, different reactions of the elevator can ...
