A display apparatus has a display displaying a picture thereon, an external input provided with terminals to which connecting jacks of external A / V devices are inserted, an external input recognizer recognizing whether or not the connecting jack of the external A / V device is electrically connected to the terminals of the external input. Also included are an OSD controller; an external input checker; an external input selector; a PIP executor, and a controller.
