Embodiment Construction

[0055] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS An at least semi-autonomous vehicle transmission system 10 employing the centrifugally operated primary friction clutch and control method of the present invention is schematically shown in FIG. 1 . System 10 can be fully automatic, such as described in U.S. Patent No. 4,361,060, semi-automatic, such as described in U.S. Patent Nos. And as described in 6015366, it is a manual type assisted by a controller.

[0056] In system 10, a shift transmission 12 comprising a main transmission section 14 connected in series with an auxiliary transmission section 16 of the splitter type is drivingly connected to an internal combustion engine 18, such as Be known gasoline engine or diesel engine. By way of example, the transmission 12 may be of the type known in the art and marketed under the trademarks "Super-10" and "Lightning" by EATON CORPORATION, the assignee of the present application, more details of which can be found in U.S...

Abstract

A control system / method controls a vehicular automated transmission system to modulate engagement of a centrifugal clutch. The automated transmission system including an internal combustion engine having an engine output member, a multiple speed change gear transmission having an input shaft, a centrifugal friction clutch for drivingly connecting said engine output member to said input shaft, a throttle responsive to manually requesting of a degree of engine fueling, and a system controller. The system controller has stored therein an engine speed limit used to facilitate vehicle launches.

Description

[0001] related application [0002] This application claims priority from and is filed in series with US Patent Application Serial No. 09 / 814,494 (00-rTRN-348), entitled "Controls Executed Over Transmission Systems Employing Centrifugal Clutches." technical field [0003] The invention relates to a centrifugal main clutch and a vehicle transmission system using the clutch. More specifically, the present invention relates to a vehicle automatic transmission system comprising an engine; a multi-ratio transmission; a centrifugally operated primary friction clutch for drivingly engaging the engine with the transmission; A controller that controls the fuel supply to the engine according to the throttle position and other detected system operating conditions in the starting condition of the vehicle, where the system operating conditions are, for example, at least one of the following conditions: engine speed, transmission Input shaft speed, transmission output shaft speed, engine t...
