An improved system and method for controlling ozone concentration in connection with a multi-chamber tool. The system and method involve a first and a second concentration controller in combination with an ozone generator. The first concentration controller detects an EVENT (i.e., one of the chambers in the multi-chamber tool coming on-line or off-line) and in response provides a power instruction to the ozone generator in accordance with a predictive control algorithm. The first concentration controller has a fast (i.e, about 1 second) response time. The second concentration controller is masked from the ozone generator during the EVENT, but otherwise controls the generator after an interval of time has lapsed after the EVENT. The second concentration controller has a slower response time than the first concentration controller, however the second concentration controller provides the system with long-term stability and can be used to provide updated data to the predictive control algorithm.

A system and methods for creating user definable windows for applying image processing, particularly useful in a post-production color correction equipment. The system allows a user of an image processing system such as a scene by scene color corrector to define a color region of interest in an image for purposes of applying image processing only to the region of interest, with automatic tracking of that region of interest over a plurality of frames in a scene. The user defined window, comprising a closed polygon, is converted on a frame-by-frame basis to a matte that is keyed with image processing such as color correction values. The user defined windows can be edited and stored and recalled for use in other frames. The color region of interest is automatically tracked from a beginning frame to the ending frame of a scene, with a vector window defined for each frame, so as to adapt to and compensate for changes in shape, size, and geometry of the region of interest during the succession of frames in the scene.

A system and method for calibrating rigid and non-rigid arrays of 3-axis magnetometers as disclosed. Such arrays might be used to analyze structures containing ferromagnetic material. The calibration determines scale factor and bias parameters of each magnetometer in the array, and the relative orientation and position of each magnetometer in the array. Once the parameters are determined, the actual magnetic field value at the magnetometer location can be simply related to magnetometer measurements. The method and system can be used to calibrate an array of 3-axis magnetometers in aggregate as opposed to individual magnetometers. This is critical in large arrays to increasing reproducibility of the calibration procedure and decreasing time required to complete calibration procedure.

A balance wheel having a thermally adjustable moment of inertia is described. In one aspect, the balance wheel includes radially movable compensation portions formed of shape memory material exhibiting a two-way memory effect. The radius of gyration of the balance wheel is therefore adjustable with temperature to compensate for thermoelastic effects in a balance spring attached to the balance wheel. In another aspect, a thermally stable balance wheel includes dynamically adjusting appendages whose expansion or contraction with temperature relative to the balance wheel cause change in its moment of inertia. The invention can compensate for both ‘normal’ and ‘abnormal’ thermoelastic spring behaviour.

Systems and methods for accurately determining the state of health (including state of charge and relative age) of a Lithium Sulfur battery, module or cell. The invention uses an operational model of a Lithium Sulfur cell or battery to predict model parameters under a range of conditions related to state of charge and state of health. Operational models include the memory effect due to the unique chemistry of a Lithium Sulfur cell that precludes the user of other methodologies for State of health determination for Lithium Sulfur batteries. Model parameters are identified in real life applications and parameters are compared to those of the operational Lithium Sulfur model employing Kalman filtering. The output includes an estimate of state of health and other key performance indicators. Key performance indicators are compared with measured values of for example resistance to provide feedback to the estimate process in order to improve accuracy. The system can be implemented as software or firmware in an application.

A free space optical switch that uses both an open loop control mode and a closed loop control mode. The open loop control mode is used to transition to a state where at least some light is sensed at a destination port. A closed loop control mode is then used, whereby a series of controlled dither signals are adjusted for system dynamics. Modifying the dither signals in this matter allows moving actuators at a rate that is much closer to the natural frequency of the underlying system, and hence speeds up the system convergence process. Variable modulation amplitudes may be employed on the dither signals to maximize convergence speed. In particular, changes in the dither signal can be made in accordance with the change in amplitude as a function of a gradient along a parabola that models the optical system response. According to still further aspects, the dither signals may be compensated for a desired and selectable attenuation level of output optical power.

Magnetic tracking systems and methods for determining the position and orientation of a remote object. A magnetic tracking system includes a stationary transmitter for establishing a reference coordinate system, and at least one receiver. The remote object is attached to, mounted on, or otherwise coupled to the receiver. The transmitter can include a set of three mutually perpendicular coils having a common center point, or a set of three coplanar coils with separate centers. The receiver can include a set of three orthogonal coils. The position and orientation of the receiver and the remote object coupled thereto is determined by measuring the nine mutual inductances between the three transmitter coils and the three receiver coils. The magnetic tracking system provides reduced power consumption, increased efficiency, digital compensation for component variation, automatic self-calibration, automatic synchronization with no connections between transmitter and receiver, and rapid low-cost implementation.

A method and a system are provided for monitoring of the functionality of an After Treatment Injector (ATI) for injection of a fluid in an engine exhaust gas system upstream of an exhaust gas treatment unit. The monitoring is performed by using a pressure sensor which detects the pressure of the fluid delivered to the ATI for a specific condition or injection cycle. The pressure sensor is located downstream of a flow regulator and upstream of the ATI in a conduit for supplying of a substance from a container to the ATI. An ECU is programmed to perform a predetermined sequence of opening and closing commands for the flow regulator and the ATI, furthermore perform a frequency analysis of the measured pressure value in order to monitor the functionality of the flow regulator, the ATI and the pressure sensor. The method and system are adapted to be used in connection with an On Board Diagnosis (OBD) system.

An electro-optical device includes a pixel circuit with a driving transistor element, a storage capacitor, and a capacitive element. The driving transistor element is electrically connected to a corresponding data line and a corresponding driving electrode. A FEXT canceller is placed at the transmitter rather than at the receiver according to an aspect of the invention. In some embodiment, a FEXT canceller can be placed at the receiver only or the combination of both ends. The FEXT canceller is continuously adapted with information sent back from a remote receiver and with data from a neighbor transmitter that causes the crosstalk at the remote receiver. This allows the FEXT canceller to quickly adapt to a change in crosstalk function or conditions with the surrounding environment, for example, aging, temperature, humidity, physical pressure, etc. In some embodiments, an adaptation control signal is sent back from the receiver to the transmitter by using an overhead bit in the frame format. Techniques and systems are provided for processing video data. For example, techniques and systems are provided for compensating for lighting changes in one or more video frames. To perform the lighting change compensation, a current frame and a background picture are obtained. A frame-level lighting condition change is then detected for the current frame. A block-level comparison of the current frame and the background picture is performed when the frame-level lighting condition change is detected. The block-level comparison includes comparing a block of pixels of the current frame with a corresponding block of pixels of the background picture. Based on the block-level comparison, it is determined that a change in the block of the current frame relative to a previous frame is associated with a change in lighting. Blob-level lighting compensation can also be performed.
