Mortice locking device

By introducing a mechanical linkage and a single-pole switch into the mortise door lock device, and using the rotation of the cam to detect the positions of the main latch and the auxiliary latch, the problem of misjudgment in the prior art is solved, and accurate detection of the door locking state is achieved.

Problems solved by technology

For example, weatherstripping may prevent the door from closing securely because the latch cannot reach the hole in the strike plate where the latch would protrude and lock the door
However, because the sensor relies on the secondary latch to determine the state of the door, the secondary latch may indicate that the door is closed even though the primary latch may be retracted

Embodiment Construction

[0021] Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2 , the locking device 10 includes a lock housing 12 having a front panel 14 and a cover panel 22 . A decorative panel 16 is mounted on the outside of the front panel 14 . The trim panel 16 and the front panel 14 each include respective apertures 18 , 20 for the locking latch 24 , primary latch 42 and secondary latch 56 . The switch 15 monitors the position of the primary snib 42 and the secondary snib 56 . Controller 25 monitors the state of switch 15 and responds to the state of switch 15 as an alert of the state of locking device 10 . The cam 62 pivots to activate the switch 15 in response to the position of the primary snib 42 and the secondary snib 56 .

[0022] The locking device 10 includes an electric motor assembly 110 . The electric motor assembly 110 includes a motor 112 mounted by a mounting plate 122 and a mounting bracket 124 . Motor 112 turns a cam 114 located inside cam block 116 . The cam block 116 supports a lock plate 118...

Abstract

A lock assembly includes a single switch (15) actuated by a cam (62) for monitoring the position of a main bolt (42) and an auxiliary bolt (56). The main bolt and the auxiliary bolt engage and move the cam between an actuated position and a released position. In the actuated position the cam actuates a switch. Actuation of the switch indicates that the auxiliary bolt is retracted and that the main bolt is extended into a locked position. The main bolt includes a tail (50) that engages a portion of the cam to drive the cam to the actuated position. The switch will remain in the actuated condition when the auxiliary bolt is retracted and the main bolt is also retracted.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention generally relates to a mortise door locking device. More particularly, the present invention relates to a mortice lock assembly including a sensing means for detecting when the door is in an unlocked position. Background technique [0002] A mortice locking device typically consists of a primary and secondary latch that both extend when the door is fully open. When the door is closed, the primary latch extends through the strike plate into the frame, locking the door securely, while the secondary latch is pressed inward by the strike plate into the door. Currently known locking devices use sensors that check the position of the auxiliary latch to determine if the door is closed. If the auxiliary latch is retracted, the sensor recognizes that the door is closed and locked. [0003] During normal use of the door, this is usually true. However, there are situations where the secondary latch is retracted sufficiently that the sens...
