Abstract

A broadcast receiving device and method for controlling video switching of the broadcast receiving device. When a channel selection signal indicating a change from a currently viewed first broadcast channel to a second broadcast channel is received, all pre-stored video streams of the first broadcast channel are decoded and displayed, and then video masking is performed. Therefore, the present invention gives the impression that the channel is switched quickly by reducing the video masking time according to the VBV buffer delay time required due to the change of the broadcasting channel.
