To detect a third target zone, optical elements are provided in front of at least the first transmitter, said elements at least intermittently guiding at least some of the waves emitted from said transmitter into the third target zone and optical elements are provided in front of at least the second receiver, said elements at least intermittently guiding reflections of the waves emitted by the first transmitter into the third target zone onto the second receiver. Preferably, the optical elements are permanent and the transmitters are alternately active, in such a way that one respective receiver detects the third target zone without interference.
