The method includes steps: creating target process, and backing up the process data of the source process to the target process; when receiving integrated data form socket interface, the method stops interacting data with the socket interface, and backing up the receiving data to the target process; after finishing backing up operation, the target process sends switch request to the socket interface; after receiving information of the switch request, the socket interface switches socket service to the target process in order to carry out data interaction between the target process (through the socket interface) and the opposite terminal connected to the socket interface. Under precondition without disconnecting the socket, the invention carries out reliable and smooth upgrading.
