Embodiment Construction

[0127] Exemplary films were prepared by mixing various amounts of elastomeric polymer, modified resin, and mineral oil as shown in Table 1. Compounding was accomplished by extruding the mixture (Examples 2 and 3) or by solvent casting the mixture and punching into films on a Carver heat press (Examples 1, 4, 5, 6 and 7). The amount of each component is expressed as a weight percent of the elastomeric composition. Examples in Table 1 include a triblock elastomeric copolymer, styrene-isoprene-styrene (S-I-S), commercially available under the trade designation Vector 4211 from Dexco Polymers L.P., Houston, TX. In some embodiments (Examples 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7), a component of the elastomeric composition is paraffin oil, available under the trade name Britol 50T is commercially available from Crompton Corporation, Petrolia, PA. Suitable modified resins disclosed in the examples in Table 1 are: cycloaliphatic resin, commercially available from Arakawa Chemical Inc., Chicago, IL und...

Abstract

An absorbent article comprising at least one topsheet; a liquid impervious backsheet joined with the topsheet; an absorbent core interposed between the topsheet and backsheet; and a slow recovery elastomer. The slow recovery elastomer exhibits a normalized unload force at 37 DEG C of greater than about 0.04N and at least about 20% post elongation strain at 22 DEG C after 15 seconds of recovery.

Description

field of invention [0001] The present invention relates to absorbent articles comprising slow recovery elastomers, such as diapers, training pants, adult incontinence articles, feminine hygiene articles, and the like. Background of the invention [0002] Elastomeric compositions are well known in the art. Furthermore, it has long been known in the field of disposable absorbent articles that it is desirable to construct absorbent devices with elastic elements, such as disposable diapers with fasteners, pull-on diapers, training pants, sanitary napkins, pantiliners, incontinence briefs, etc., For improved comfort in motion and a constant fit. In addition, the elastic elements allow the diaper to accommodate wearers of different sizes. Diapers can have elastic elements in many of their structures including the waistband, leg cuffs, side panels, elasticized topsheet and backsheet. Diapers and other absorbent articles with elastic elements such as elasticized leg cuffs or elas...
