Embodiment Construction

[0019] figure 1 is a partially exploded perspective view of an exemplary embodiment of the electrical connector system 10 . System 10 includes a plurality of pluggable electrical assemblies 12 ( figure 1 Only one is shown) for insertion into the socket assembly 14 mounted on the host circuit board 16 . As described below, the pluggable electrical assembly 12 includes a latch assembly 18 for latching the pluggable electrical assembly within the receptacle assembly 14 . The receptacle assembly 10 includes a guide frame 20 within which are disposed a plurality of electrical connectors 22 ( figure 2 ). The socket assembly 14 is located on the circuit board 16 and is used for electrically connecting the plurality of pluggable electrical assemblies 12 to the circuit board 16 through the electrical connector 22 . The plug end 24 of the guide frame 20 through which the pluggable electrical assembly 12 is mounted within the receptacle assembly 14 is mounted or received within a pa...

Abstract

A latch includes a body extending a length between a latch end portion and a spring end portion that is opposite the latch end portion. The body includes a latch portion that includes the latch end portion, a spring portion that includes the spring end portion, and a central longitudinal axis extending along the length of the body. The latch portion includes a latch element. The latch portion is stiffer than at least a portion of the spring portion with respect to bending along the central longitudinal axis.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a latch for a pluggable electrical assembly. Background technique [0002] Various fiber optic and copper based transceivers are known which allow communication between electronic host equipment and external devices. These transceivers mate with pluggable electrical components or modules that connect to the host device to provide flexibility in system configuration. These modules are designed according to various standards regarding size and compatibility, one of which is the Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP, Small Form-factor Pluggable) module standard. [0003] The SFP module plugs into a socket mounted on the internal circuit board of the host device. The receptacle includes an elongated guide frame, or cage, having a front portion that opens toward the interior space, and an electrical connector disposed behind the guide frame and within the interior space. Both the connector and the lead frame are electrically and mecha...
