Abstract

The present invention provides a biopsy device for harvesting at least one tissue sample from a suspect tissue mass in a body of a living being. The device comprises a hollow needle having a distal end for inserting into a living being; a cutting mechanism for cutting at leas tone tissue sample; a sample accommodating device with cavity which can be accommodated in the hollow needle; and a transport device for moving the sample accommodating device between a first extending position and a second retract position in the hollow needle, wherein the sample accommodating device with cavity is at distal position at the first extending position, and is at a near position when at the second retract position, and the transport device also comprises a bending long element. The sample accommodating device can move along motion axis in the hollow needle, and at least one of the hollow needle and the sample accommodating device is configured to direct the sample accommodating device relative to the hollow needle basically in a plane vertical to the motion axis.
