Embodiment Construction

[0032] Such as figure 1 As shown, the mobile electronic device 4 comprises a housing 8 on which the input / output means 12 are arranged and processor means (not explicitly shown here) arranged within the housing 8 . The input / output device 12 includes a display, which in the exemplary embodiment described here is a touch-sensitive display 20 . Touch-sensitive display 20 includes: an output component configured to provide visual output in response to an output signal received from the processor device; touch input to provide input to the processor device. The input device 12 is also shown to include a plurality of physical buttons 22 capable of providing other inputs to the processor device.

[0033] As is known in the prior art, the processor means comprise a processor (not explicitly shown here) and a memory (not explicitly shown here) operatively connected. The processor may be, by way of example and not limitation, a microprocessor (μP). The memory can be any one or more...

Abstract

The invention relates to a content-dynamic touch screen activity bar. A mobile electronic device and an associated method provide for the outputting on a touch sensitive display or other display a content page plus an activity bar having one or more shortcut objects that relate to the subject matter of the content page. As different content pages are output, corresponding activity bars are also output, with each activity bar typically including one or more shortcut objects that relate to the subject matter of the content page that is being output.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims priority to US Provisional Patent Application Serial No. 61 / 103,731, filed October 8, 2008, the disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference. technical field [0003] The presently disclosed and claimed concept relates generally to mobile electronic devices and, more particularly, to a mobile electronic device and method featuring the output of a taskbar with functions that can be configured based on the content page currently being output. Multiple shortcut objects that change dynamically. Background technique [0004] Various types of mobile electronic devices are known. Examples of such mobile electronic devices include, for example, personal assistants (PDAs), handheld computers, two-way pagers, cellular telephones, and the like. Many mobile electronic devices also feature wireless communication capabilities, although many such mobile electronic devices are standalone devices wi...
