Abstract

Transport of optional content on standard device connectors. The method of an embodiment includes: connecting a first device to a second device using a standard connector, the connector including a plurality of pins; and detecting whether the second device is operating in a standard mode or an optional mode. If the second device is operating in the selectable mode, one or more pins of the standard connector are switched for the selectable mode and signals for the selectable mode are sent or received via the plurality of pins of the standard connector.
