Dual-personality extended-USB plug and receptacle with PCI-Express or Serial-At-Attachment extensions

An extended Universal-Serial-Bus (USB) connector plug and socket each have a pin substrate with one surface that supports the four metal contact pins for the standard USB interface. An extension of the pin substrate carries another 8 extension metal contact pins that mate when both the connector plug and socket are extended. The extension can be an increased length of the plug's and socket's pin substrate or a reverse side of the substrate. Standard USB connectors do not make contact with the extension metal contacts that are recessed, retracted by a mechanical switch, or on the extension of the socket's pin substrate that a standard USB connector cannot reach. Standard USB sockets do not make contact with the extension metal contacts because the extended connector's extension contacts are recessed, or on the extension of the connector pin substrate that does not fit inside a standard USB socket.

Connector pin assembly

The connector pin assembly releasably retains telescoped excavating support and wear members in their telescoped relationship. The connector pin assembly is removably received in aligned connector openings in the members. A body portion of the assembly blocks removal of the wear member from the support member, and a lock member portion of the assembly is rotatable relative to the body, toward and away from a locking orientation, to releasably lock the body within the connector openings. A resilient sleeve having non-circular interior and exterior surfaces with rounded corners is non-slippably disposed over a rotatable shaft of the lock member in order to slidingly and deformably engage a non-circular shaped interior cavity of the body that rotatably receives shaft and sleeve of the lock member. The sleeve yieldingly resists rotational movement of the lock member away from a locking orientation.

Cammed connector pin assembly and associated excavation apparatus

A hammerless connector pin assembly is insertable in the aligned connector openings in telescoped excavation wear and support members and has associated locking structure for releasably locking the inserted assembly therein. The inserted assembly has opposite end portions that block removal of the wear member from the support member. One of such end portions has a laterally projecting cam member disposed thereon which is positioned within one of the wear member openings. As the interior surface of the wear member becomes worn from use and is able to shift further rearwardly along the support member, the cam member may be rotationally adjusted to maintain contact with the wear member to prevent forward movement thereof away from its rearward shifted position.
