Embodiment Construction

[0051] The term "drug" or "pharmaceutical preparation" or "medicine", as used herein, refers to a pharmaceutical formulation comprising at least one pharmaceutically active compound,

[0052] Wherein in one embodiment, the pharmaceutically active compound has a molecular weight up to 1500 Da and / or is a peptide, protein, polysaccharide, vaccine, DNA, RNA, antibody, enzyme, antibody, hormone or oligonucleotide, or a derivative of the aforementioned pharmaceutically active compound mixture,

[0053] Wherein in another embodiment, the pharmaceutically active compound is used for the treatment and / or prevention of diabetes or complications associated with diabetes such as diabetic retinopathy, thromboembolic disorders such as deep vein or pulmonary thromboembolism, acute coronary syndrome (ACS) , angina, myocardial infarction, cancer, macular degeneration, inflammation, hay fever, atherosclerosis and / or rheumatoid arthritis,

[0054] Wherein in another embodiment, the pharmaceuti...

Abstract

Provided are a method and system for proving a drug delivery device having a variable maximum dose. The drug delivery device comprising a first tubular member (260) and a second tubular member (300) rotatably coupled to the first tubular member (260). A maximum stop component (286a, b) is operatively coupled to the first tubular member (260) and the second tubular member (300) such that the maximum stop component (286a, b) is movable from a first position to a second position. The first position defines a first maximum dose that may be set by a user of said drug delivery device and the second position defines a second maximum dose that may be set by the user of said drug delivery device.

Description

technical field [0001] The present application generally relates to a dose setting mechanism for a drug delivery device. More specifically, the present application relates generally to dose setting mechanisms including a variable maximum dose. Aspects of the invention are equally applicable to other situations as well. Background technique [0002] Pen delivery devices are used where routine injections are performed by persons without formal medical training. This may be increasingly common among patients with diabetes, where self-treatment enables these patients to manage their disease effectively. [0003] There are two main types of pen delivery devices that allow the user to set variable drug doses: reprogrammable devices (ie, reusable) and non-reprogrammable devices (ie, disposable). These types of pen delivery devices (so called because they tend to resemble enlarged fountain pens) generally consist of three main elements: (i) a cartridge portion, including a a car...
