Abstract

The invention relates to a method for supporting HNP (Home Network Prefix) renumbering in PMIPv6 (Proxy Mobile Internet Protocol version 6). The method comprises the steps that 1) a LAM (Local Mobility Anchor) assigns a new HNP for a mobile node in which HNP renumbering occurs; 2) the LMA transmits a PBU (Proxy Binding Update) message to an MAG (Mobility Access Gateway), wherein an HNP option comprises new HNP information and identification information corresponding to the mobile node; 3) after the MAG receives the PBU message, a router notification message is constructed, the life value of the old HNP is set to be 0 and the life value of the new HNP is set to be a value which is more than 0; and 4) after the mobile node receives the router notification message, the old HNP is deleted and an effective communication address is configured by adopting the new HNP. On the basis of the PMIPv6 basic operating flow, the invention provides an active HNP renumbering solution, which can effectively reduce excessive time delay caused by the current processing flow based on passive HNP prefix change.
