Abstract

Active trace detection is carried out by adopting a 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical-scavenging assay; the synergistic effects (combination coefficient, CI) of two groups of antioxidant ingredients are evaluated by adopting a dose-effect analysis method on the basis of a median effect principle; a group of compounds for synergistically scavenging the radicals, namely calycosin and isoferulic acid are screened from astragalus membranaceus and cimicifugae foetidae; methanol solutions of the calycosin and the isoferulic acid are combined according to different dose ratios (3:1, 2:1, 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3), so as to determine the DPPH radical scavenging capacity. Thus, the calycosin and the isoferulic acid display the best synergistic effect under the condition that the dose ratio is 1:1.
