Abstract

The invention provides a method and device used for detecting altitude variations in an area. The method comprises the steps that an amplitude-time sequence associated with the area is formed based on a plurality of SAR images, obtained in the time period, of the area; the variations in the amplitude-time sequence are detected, and the time when the variations occur is estimated; the altitude difference between the area and a reference point before the variations and the altitude difference between the area and the reference point after the variations are respectively calculated, and the altitude variations are determined according to the calculated altitude difference.
