Abstract

The present invention discloses a method and apparatus for detecting clogging of a filter. The method includes deriving an environmental parameter, deriving a threshold associated with the environmental parameter, and deriving a speed of a fan positioned adjacent the filter. The method also includes comparing the fan speed to a threshold, and if the fan speed exceeds the threshold, outputting a warning signal indicative of blockage. The environmental parameters may include at least one of ambient temperature, atmospheric pressure and power supply voltage.
