Provided are an apparatus and method for creating a floor plan of a building using a program that supports editing operations for interior structural drawings. The method includes: receiving a user's request from a user interface (UI) unit, searching at least one of a database (DB) and an external DB accessible through the communication unit based on the basic layout information to obtain at least one recommended internal structure diagram, The at least one recommended internal structure diagram is provided through the UI unit, and the internal structure diagram selected by the user is edited based on the expanded layout information.
