Abstract

According to an embodiment of the present invention, disclosed are methods and apparatus for controlling concealment of missing audio frames of a received audio signal. The method by which the decoder conceals the lost audio frame comprises detecting the replacement of the lost frame in the properties of the previously received and reconstructed audio signal or in the statistical properties of the observed frame loss providing a condition of relatively reduced quality. Where such a condition is detected, the concealment method is modified by selectively adjusting the phase or spectral magnitude of the surrogate frame spectrum.
