Abstract

Some embodiments of the invention provide an address harvester that obtains addresses from one or more applications executing on a device. Some embodiments use the harvested address to facilitate the operation of one or more applications executing on the device. Alternatively or in combination, some embodiments use the harvested address to facilitate the operation of one or more applications executing on another device than the device used to harvest the address. In some embodiments, the prediction system uses the obtained addresses to formulate a prediction, which is then provided to the same set of applications from which the prediction system obtained the addresses.

Background technique [0001] Driving from one location to another is getting easier with the rise of technology. People no longer need to pull out a paper map and try to figure out how to get from point A to point B. Instead, people can simply use an electronic map operating on their mobile device to get directions between two addresses. Although such maps are simple to use, people still have to enter different addresses. Entering addresses may seem easy, but can be tedious in itself when considering the many different sources from which addresses need to be retrieved. For example, in order to find an address in an email, a person has to open the mail application and sort through the emails to find the email with the address. The address is usually in the body of the email. So, most likely, people have to find and open the email, and then browse through it to find the address.
