According to the method, the numbers of teeth of all gears, the static strength probability density functions of all the gears and the stress functions of all the pairs of meshing gears in the straight gear transmission system are acquired, the load spectrum of loads borne by the straight gear transmission system is obtained, and the probability density function of the stress amplitude of the load courses is obtained according to the load spectrum of the loads borne by the straight gear transmission system; the straight gear transmission system bearing the loads successively along with time evolution serves as a series system, namely, a time-domain series system in four-dimensional space-time, the reliability of all the pairs of meshing teeth is expanded to the reliability of the meshing gears, a reliability model of the meshing gears of the straight gear transmission system under the different load courses is established through a statistical averaging method, the reliability of all the pairs of meshing gears of the straight gear transmission system is calculated through the reliability model of the meshing gears of the straight gear transmission system under the different load courses according to the obtained load spectrum of the loads borne by the straight gear transmission system, and then the reliability of the straight gear transmission system is evaluated.
