Abstract

An electronic device and method for recognizing an object are provided. The method includes: applying a current to a first coil among a plurality of coils of the electronic device; measuring an induced current of a second coil among the plurality of coils, the second coil being adjacent to the first coil; based on the inducing an electric current to identify information about an object located outside the electronic device; and performing a prescribed function based on a result of the identification.
