The present invention relates to a massage device and method possessing an integrated rotating and reciprocating massage mechanism which can provide different shiatsu and tap effects independently and simultaneously. The massage device comprises at least one rotating massage nodes which rotate about an axis to form a circular path; and at least one reciprocating massage node which does the reciprocating motion in the circular path. The rotating massage node can rotate on a rotating pedestal driven by a rotating driving mechanism, for example, a motor, and the reciprocating massage node can be driven by the hole ports in the rotating pedestal via a reciprocating driving mechanism, for example, a solenoid. The massage device can contain one set or multiple sets of integrated rotating and reciprocating massage mechanisms and can be surrounded in the housings of different types, such as a massage chair, a cushion, a chair topper, a coverable housing, etc., and the housing is configured to joint the parts of a body, such as the neck, the back, the shoulder, etc., to apply the massage effect.
