The invention provides a detection system and method for a composite annular pipe fitting. The detection system and method are used for detecting the deformation situation of the composite annular pipe fitting after being heated. The composite annular pipe fitting is provided with two side walls in the axial direction of the composite annular pipe fitting. The detection system comprises an opening mechanism, a heating mechanism and a detecting mechanism, wherein the opening mechanism applies force to open the two side walls in the direction of making the two side walls far away from each other, the heating mechanism heats at least one face, back on to the other side wall, of one side wall of the composite annular pipe fitting, and the detecting mechanism detects the deformation situation of the composite annular pipe fitting heated by the heating mechanism.
