Abstract

A computer assisted surgical system (100) and method (500) of operation thereof includes: capturing historic scan data (142) from a three dimensional object (104); sampling a current surface image (118) from the three dimensional object (104) in a different position; automatically transforming the historical scan data (142) to align with the current surface image (118) for forming a transform data (144); and displaying, on an augmented reality display (146), the current surface image (118) overlaid by the transform data (144) with no manual intervention.
