The method comprises steps of: setting a first threshold value, a second threshold value and a third threshold value of receiving signal intensity indicating values, wherein the first threshold value is greater than the second threshold value which is greater than the third threshold value; detecting working modes of a Wi-Fi device; calculating a Wi-Fi signal intensity indicating value received by a user terminal in the current environment; comparing the size of the signal intensity indicating values, the first threshold value, the second threshold value and the third threshold value; adjusting the resolution of a to-be-transmitted video according to a result after comparison between the signal intensity indicating values and the threshold values, and the working modes of the Wi-Fi device; and transmitting the adjusted to-be-transmitted video to the user terminal. The invention also provides a video resolution conversion system. In this way, excellent experience for watching the video is provided for users.
