Abstract

A valve for regulating fluid flow includes a housing base defining a lower cavity and including a clamping structure within the lower cavity, a gas inlet providing external access to the lower cavity, a base Fluid inlet and substrate fluid outlet. The housing cover defines an upper cavity and includes a cover fluid inlet and a cover fluid outlet. The cover fluid inlet and the base fluid outlet are in fluid communication between the upper cavity and the lower cavity, and the cover fluid outlet provides access from outside the upper cavity. The vibrating membrane is disposed between the housing base and the housing cover. A pinch plate is disposed in the lower cavity and includes a pinch point disposed opposite to the clamping structure. A pinch tube is in fluid communication between the substrate fluid inlet and the substrate fluid outlet in the lower cavity.

Description

technical field [0001] This application relates to the field of fluid flow control, and in particular, pinch valve regulators. Background technique [0002] In various applications, conventional valves have been used to regulate fluid pressure and flow. In some applications, extra-long tubing with small internal diameters has been used to regulate fluid pressure, for example, in fluid systems that direct the flow of reactants through flow cells containing sensor arrays. Long tubing and multiple valves have routinely been used in these systems to throw off reactants after exiting the flow cell and sensor array. However, as the length of the tube increases, so does the likelihood of clogging within the tube, as does the cost of producing an extra-long tube with the desired precision. Furthermore, variations in the inner diameter of such tubes lead to reduced accuracy when controlling fluid flow and to difficulties in calibrating the fluid flow system. In view of the above, ...
