The invention discloses an indoor unit address allocation method. The method comprises the following steps: when an address allocation instruction sent by an outdoor unit is received, a switching apparatus sends a broadcast message comprising a virtual address generation instruction; when a time interval after sending the broadcast message reaches a preset time interval, performing a polling operation on the indoor unit systems based on a preset virtual address; when response message corresponding to the virtual address of the current polling is received, sending a to-be-allocated address to the indoor unit of the virtual address of the current polling based on the virtual address. The invention further discloses a switching apparatus and a computer readable storage medium. By adoption ofthe indoor unit address allocation method, automatic allocation of indoor unit address in a heat recovery cascaded air conditioning system is achieved, the situation that the same address is allocatedto different indoor units is avoided by the manner of polling the virtual address, thereby avoiding errors in the address allocation process and improving the indoor unit address allocation efficiency.
