Abstract

The invention relates to the technical field of banknote identification and provides a banknote identification method and device, a terminal device and a storage medium. The method comprises the following steps: obtaining a gray value image of a banknote to be identified and with light change characters; intercepting a target location area where the light change characters locate from the gray value image; summarizing the number of target pixel points, the gray values of which are larger than a first threshold value, in the target location area; if the number of target pixel points is larger than a second threshold value, judging that the banknote to be identified is a genuine note; and if the number of target pixel points is smaller than the second threshold value, judging that the banknote to be identified is a forged note. Since the light change characters of the banknote have texture stripes and the number of the texture stripes of the forged note are relatively smaller than that of the genuine note, the method can carry out identification on the banknote to be identified by summarizing the number of the target pixel points, that is, texture stripe points; and in the whole process, only the gray value image of the banknote to be identified needs to be utilized, thereby greatly reducing cost.
