Abstract

In an engine including cylinders having first and second engine valves of the same functional type, a system for actuating the first and second engine valves, the system comprising receiving motion sources from the first and second valve actuation motions First and second master pistons of respective ones of the first and second valve actuating movements are operatively connected to the first engine valve and configured to hydraulically receive the first and second master pistons from at least the first master piston. A first slave piston for valve actuation movement and a second slave piston operably connected to the second engine valve and configured to hydraulically receive the second valve actuation movement from the second master piston. The system also includes an accumulator and a mode select valve in hydraulic communication with the first master piston, the first slave piston, and the accumulator. The mode select valve selectively hydraulically connects the first master piston to the accumulator.
