[0040] Disclosed herein are systems, devices, and methods for monitoring patients with various disease conditions and assessing the patient's health status. The system described herein can assess a patient's risk of developing a variety of diseases in the future and use physiological signals sensed from the patient to detect a variety of diseases. Disease detection can be based on risk assessment for a variety of diseases. A composite health status indicator can be generated using a combination of detection of disease and risk assessment. An alert of deteriorating health status may be generated if the composite detection score exceeds an alert threshold.

[0041] figure 1 An example of a portion of a patient management system 100 and an environment in which the patient management system 100 may operate is generally shown. Patient management system 100 may include ambulatory system 105 associated with patient body 102 , external system 125 , and telemetry link 115 providing ...

Abstract

Systems and methods for monitoring patients with various chronic diseases are described. The system may include a health status monitor that receives diagnostic data including sensed physiological signals from a patient. The system can generate at least a first indication of the patient's risk of developing a first disease and a second indication of the patient's risk of developing a second, different disease. The system can detect first and second diseases from the physiological signal and generate a composite health status indicator using the detection of the first and second diseases and the first and second risk indicators. An alert of deteriorating health status may be generated if the composite detection score exceeds an alert threshold.

Description

[0001] priority statement [0002] This application claims the benefit of priority under 35 U.S.C. § 119(e) of U.S. Provisional Patent Application Serial No. 62 / 317,003, filed April 1, 2016, which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety. technical field [0003] This document relates generally to medical devices, and more specifically, to systems and methods for monitoring patients with medical devices. Background technique [0004] Congestive heart failure (CHF) is the leading cause of death in the United States. CHF occurs when the heart cannot adequately supply enough blood to maintain a healthy physiological state. CHF can be treated by drug therapy or by implantable medical devices (IMDs) such as to provide cardiac electrical stimulation therapy, including resynchronization therapy (CRT) to correct cardiac dyssynchrony within or between ventricles. [0005] Patients with CHF can present with various comorbidities, including chronic obstructive pulmonary di...
