Embodiment Construction

[0021] The present invention can be used for the high-speed data transmission in digital TDMA type mobile communication system, as, all-European digital mobile communication system GSM, DCS1800 (digital communication system), according to the mobile communication system of ETA / TIA provisional standard IS / 41.3 etc. . The invention is illustrated below by using a mobile system of the GSM type as an example, however, these are not to be construed as limiting the invention. refer to figure 1 , the basic structural components of the GSM system will be introduced very briefly below without describing the characteristics or other elements of the system. For a more detailed description of the GSM system, reference may be made to the GSM Recommendation and "GSM System for Mobile Communication" by M. Mouly and M. Pautet (paluiseuu France, 1992, ISBN: 2-9507190-07-7).

Abstract

A digital mobile communication system comprises a mobile station (MS) with a facsimile adapter (2), a first telefax terminal (1) connected to the adapter, a mobile network (BSS, MSC), an interworking unit (32) with a second facsimile adapter (33). A high-speed transparent rate-adapted facsimile connection is set up between the telefax terminals. The number of parallel traffic channels (ch0-chn) allocated to the high-speed data connection is such that the maximum data rate of the data connection is higher than the allowed maximum data rate of the telefax terminals (1, 10). The telefax terminals may negotiate the facsimile data rate. The second facsimile adapter (33) monitors the negociation and selects, on the basis of the negociated facsimile data rate, the most effective channel coding available for the data connection.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to facsimile transmission in a mobile communication system. Background technique [0002] ITU-T Recommendation T.30 defines the file fax transmission process in the public switched telephone network. A facsimile terminal according to this proposal is called a Class 3 facsimile terminal. A feature of Class 3 fax terminals is that at the start of a call, the terminals can negotiate a more suitable fax data rate for the connection. If the connection volume changes, the fax data rate can be renegotiated during this call. Currently, the data rates commonly used for the three types of fax machines can be 2.4, 4.8, 7.2, 9.6, 12.0 and 14.4Kbps. In the near future, the data rate of the new fax three types that the data modem will support includes 16.6, 19.2, 21.6, 24.0, 26.4, etc., and 2.4Kbps will increase step by step to 38.4Kbps or higher. [0003] Current remote fax terminals are designed for fixed telephone networks, using...
