Problems solved by technology

All of these approaches allow for non-pharmacological disease treatment, but each may have undesirable properties
Bandages can be inconvenient as they take time to update periodically and require skill to apply
Night cleat boots are bulky and expensive
Corrective foot wraps can provide simple treatment, however this form of treatment is limited to the use of compression around the foot

Embodiment Construction

[0042] Figure 1 to Figure 3 An embodiment of a foot cover 102 of the present invention is shown. The foot cover 102 is formed from a flexible tubular cover 104 having an ankle open end 106 and a toe open end 108 . The sleeve 104 is curved along its longitudinal axis such that the radial relative offset of the open end 108 to the open end 106 is 40° (angle Z). Sleeve 104 is formed from a unitary knitted textile material extending continuously from open end 106 to open end 108 .

[0043] The textile material of the sleeve 104 includes several different regions with different levels of compaction. The edges of end 106 and end 108 are formed by endless bands of low denier textile material. The upper portion 118 of the sleeve 104 disposed between the straps of the ends 106, 108 is a series of constricted sections (not shown) having different levels of constriction. Central constriction portion 118a extends along the entire length of upper face 118 of sleeve 104 between the str...

Abstract

There is described a sleeve for use with a foot. The sleeve (102) comprises a compression portion operable to apply compression to the midfoot region of the foot. The foot sleeve further comprises a raised heel support portion (112) for abutment with the base of the heel region of the foot, and a ball portion (116) for abutment with the ball region of the foot. The thickness of the raised heel support portion is greater than the thickness of the ball portion. The foot sleeve can be used for the treatment of plantar fasciitis.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a foot cover. More specifically, the present invention relates to a foot cover for treating plantar fasciitis. Background technique [0002] Plantar fasciitis is a disease caused by damage to the plantar fascia ligament. The plantar fascial ligament is a thick flat connective tissue that extends from the calcaneus (or heel bone) to the head of the metatarsal bone at the ball of the foot for support along the sole (or base) of the midfoot between these areas arch. Putting tension on the plantar fascia ligament will weaken, swell, and inflame it. Injuries to the plantar fascia often cause pain around the heel. [0003] Treatment for plantar fasciitis may require surgical approaches, eg, plantar fasciotomy. However, this interventional approach is often seen as a last resort. [0004] Nonsurgical treatment includes drug therapy with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and injectable corticosteroids. However, these treatmen...
