Embodiment Construction

[0018] At least some embodiments described herein relate to the control of the size and quality of computer-navigable maps of sensed features. Sensed features are collected by identifying or estimating one or more characteristics of a physical entity sensed by sensor(s) within the physical space over time. Computer navigation on the graph can be performed in response to queries or calculations. Computations and queries can thus be performed on physical space, extending computation to the surrounding physical environment.

[0019] To keep the size of the computer-navigable graph at a manageable level, the nodes of the computer-navigable graph can be removed or cleaned. For example, it may be responsive to detecting a physical impossibility or infeasibility of the computer-navigable graph to represent a physical space, to representing updated information within the computer-navigable graph, and / or to a node of the computer-navigable graph having become stale to remove the node...

Abstract

The controlling of the size and quality of a computer-navigable graph of sensed features. The sensed features were gathered by recognition or estimation of one or more features of physical entities that were sensed over time by sensor(s) within a physical space. Computer-navigation may occur over the graph in response to a query or computation. Thus, computations and queries may be performed overphysical space, thereby extending computing to the ambient physical environment. To keep the size of the computer-navigable graph at a manageable levels nodes of the computer-navigable graph are removed or cleansed.

Description

Background technique [0001] Computing systems and associated networks have dramatically changed our world. At first, computing systems were only capable of performing simple tasks. However, as processing power has increased and become more available, the complexity of the tasks performed by computing systems has increased dramatically. Likewise, the hardware complexity and capabilities of computing systems have increased significantly, such as cloud computing supported by large data centers. [0002] For a long time, computing systems basically only did what their instructions, or software, told them to do. However, the use of software and hardware is becoming so advanced that computing systems are now more than ever capable of some level of decision-making at a higher level. Currently, in some respects, the level of decision-making can approach, compete, or even exceed the ability of the human brain to make decisions. In other words, computing systems are now capable of e...
