Embodiment 1

[0026] Embodiment 1: prepare PS128

[0027] The Lactobacillus plantarum subsp. plantarum PS128 (hereinafter referred to as PS128) used in this study is an isolated strain deposited with DSMZ under the accession number DSM28632. PS128 was inoculated into culture medium (10% skimmed milk, 1% yeast powder, 0.1% polysorbate 80, and 2% glucose), cultured at 37° C. for 18 hours, and collected after centrifugation. Embed PS128 with protective agents (1% skimmed milk, 2% sugar, 2% fructooligosaccharides, 3% maltodextrin and 2% glycerol), and freeze-dry with excipients to a final concentration of 5×10 per gram of powder. 10 Colony forming units (CFU).

Embodiment 2

[0028] Example 2: Treatment of Abnormal Mood and Behavior Using PS128

[0029] A total of 20 dogs were examined for abnormal mood and behavior at the veterinary clinic. They were evaluated by a professional veterinarian and scored according to the Canine Behavior Checklist shown in Table 1 below, and the Dog Emotional and Cognitive Disorders Scale (EDED) shown in Table 2. Veterinarians use this checklist and the EDED scale to assess abnormal mood and behavior in dogs (Landsberg G., Hunthausen W., Ackerman L., 2013, Behavioral Problems in Dogs and Cats, Saunders, Edinburgh 2013 , Elsevier Ltd. (Elsevier Ltd.)). Calculate and get the total score for each dog. Veterinarians further examine the evaluated dog to rule out abnormal behavior caused by disease, such as abnormal behavior due to abnormal thyroid hormones.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to methods of preventing or treating emotional and behavioral problems in animals, and more particularly to methods of preventing or treating fears, phobias, anxiety and aggression in non-human animals. Background technique [0002] The health benefits of companion or livestock animals are widely recognized by the public. Studies have found that people who own pets get sick less often, recover faster from serious health conditions, and are more contented than people who don't own pets. Some of the potential benefits of owning a companion animal include: reduced loneliness, increased compatibility in a crowd, reduced allergies, lower blood pressure, and increased ability to connect with and socialize with other people, which are strongly associated with good physical and mental health. [0003] However, like humans and other animals, companion animals and livestock can experience emotional and behavioral problems. These ...
