Embodiment Construction

[0017] Fig. 1 shows a schematic perspective view of an example of a known electric shaver 1, as an example of an electrical appliance to which the invention can be applied. The shaver shown has a housing 2 which accommodates the not shown drive motor, power supply and associated electrical leads and transmission elements. An on / off switch has reference numeral 3. The housing 2 carries a shaving head holder 4, in the present example three shaving heads 5, 6, 7 are provided.

[0018] Figure 2 shows a shaver 1 similar to that in Figure 1 but of a slightly different form. Similar parts have the same reference numerals as in FIG. 2 . The shaver shown in FIG. 2 has at least one force sensor 9 arranged on one of the walls 10 of the shaver housing. The sensor is positioned where the user holds the housing in his hand during normal operation. The force sensor provides an electrical sensor signal that depends on the force with which the shaver is held. Thus, as already outlined, th...

Abstract

A hand-held electrical appliance (1) for personal care or for use as an electric tool, has a housing (2), manual actuating means (3), at least one force sensor (9) located in or on the housing (2) for supplying a sensor signal representative of the grip force exerted by the hand of a user, and control means for controlling at least one operational parameter of the appliance (1) in response to the sensor signal. In this way the user can consciously or unconsciously influence the motor speed or the spring load of the shaving heads of an electric shaver, or the motor speed of an electric drill.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to hand-held electrical appliances for personal care or as a tool having a housing and manually operable operating means. Background technique [0002] Such electric appliances are known in various forms. Examples include electric shavers and hair dryers, and drilling machines. Electric shavers usually have a housing shaped so that it is mostly surrounded by the user's hand during use and which provides a convenient handle and an on / off (on / off) switch. Therefore, there is no need to hold on to the switch persistently. However, it is impossible for conventional razors to interfere with the operation of the shaver during shaving. [0003] Other types of electrical appliances such as hair dryers and drills have handles, usually of the pistol grip type. Such appliances often have an on / off switch that is in the form of a trigger and can also be used to vary the speed of the drive motor during use. As a result of the us...
