Embodiment Construction

[0020] One aspect of 5G NR communication technology includes the use of high spectral bands, such as those above 24 GHz, which may be referred to as millimeter wave (mmW) bands. The use of these frequency bands enables extremely high data rates and a significant increase in data processing capacity. However, mmW bands are vulnerable to fast channel variations and suffer from severe free-space path loss and atmospheric absorption compared to LTE. Furthermore, mmW bands are highly susceptible to obstruction (eg, hand, head, body, foliage, building penetration). Specifically, at mmW frequencies, even small changes in the environment, such as head turning, hand movement, or passing cars, may change the channel conditions between the base station (BS) and user equipment (UE), and Therefore, communication performance is affected.

[0021] Current mmW 5G NR systems exploit the small wavelengths of mmW at higher frequencies to utilize multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna ar...

Abstract

Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for allocating time resources (or time slots) based on a flexible pattern that allows allocation of a set of discontinuous time slot resources in an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) system. In one example, the aggregation mode may be indicated via a single downlink control information (DCI) message carrying explicit information about discontinuous slot allocations. Features of the present disclosure may also include techniques that allow early termination of transmissions between the first node and the second node when a receiver (e.g., the second node) successfully receives a data channel before the end of the aggregated transmission. In such cases, the first node and the second node may stop transmission after receiving an acknowledgement (ACK) message, the reception of which may allow the second node to communicate with its own child node (e.g., a third node) on the next hop using a subsequent time slot.
