Problems solved by technology

Traditional mobile communication systems do not support wireless multicast on the physical layer, so they cannot provide various interactive voice call services for mobile terminals
In addition, the voice call service provided by the traditional mobile communication system needs to continuously occupy a specific spatial channel on the physical layer, resulting in a waste of channel resources

Embodiment Construction

[0017] Preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein the same components of the present invention are marked by the same reference numerals or symbols. In the following description, well-known functions or constructions are not described in detail since they might obscure the invention in unnecessary detail.

[0018] FIG. 1 shows the configuration of a CDMA-2000 system to which the present invention is applied. Referring to FIG. 1, mobile terminals (MTs) 1 and 2 are wirelessly connected to their associated base stations (BSs) 11 and 12, respectively, for desired call services through wireless channels specified by the CDMA-2000 standard. The base stations 11 and 12 may each include a base transceiver subsystem (BTS) and a base station controller (BSC). Mobile Switching Center (MSC) 10 is used to connect base stations 11 and 12 to another subscriber system such as Public Switched Telephone Network (P...

Abstract

A method of providing a diversity of call services in a CDMA-2000 mobile communication system supporting a packet-based call service. The method provides a user with such a packet call service via an Internet Protocol (IP) based network and includes the steps of constructing a set of service primitive information including radio channel assignment information in accordance with at least one service class for the packet call service, determining a service primitive combination according to the service class of the packet call based on the service primitive information, assigning to the mobile terminal a radio channel corresponding to the service primitive combination, if a packet call for at least one mobile terminal is generated, and then providing the mobile terminal with the requested packet call service by using the assigned radio channel.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a wireless telecommunication system, and more particularly to a method for providing packet-based interactive call service and high-quality packet voice call service. Background technique [0002] The service area of a cellular mobile communication system is usually divided into a plurality of small service areas called "cells", namely BS (base station) areas. The system is based on central control, using a Mobile Switching Center (MSC) to control the base stations, so that users can maintain calls even when they move between cells. [0003] A voice call procedure performed in a general mobile communication system will be described below. The mobile terminal (or mobile phone) uses Q-CELP (Qualcomm's Code Excited Linear Prediction) EVRC (Enhanced Variable Rate Codec) to encode the user's voice and send the encoded voice data to the base station. The base station then converts (or transcodes) the encoded voice data re...
