The invention includes following steps: (1) in terminal supporting different communication protocols such as CDMA and WCDMA, determining initial setting of communication mode; (2) searching procedure to ensure communication mode, determining whether there is signal in the determined mode; (3) in preset time period, if signal in the determined mode is occurred, then communication is carried out in the determined mode; (4) if signal in the determined mode is not occurred, then other communication mode is set; then communication signal can be found by using above identical procedure.
