Abstract

A duplex automatic document feeder includes a pickup roller, an image reading unit, and a discharge roller, and includes first, second, third, and fourth document feeding paths. When performing duplex scanning in the DADF, the document is fed from the pickup roller to the image reading unit through the second document feeding path, and then the document passes through the third document feeding path, which is a closed-loop feeding path, to reverse feed the document back to the image reading unit, so that both sides of the document are scanned.
