The central terminal 2 includes a central station 4 to which emergencies of some type are forwarded. For example, central station 4 may be configured to manage medical emergencies. A preferred medical emergency is a cardiac emergency occurring outside the victim's residence. Alternatively, the central station 4 may be configured to manage additional emergencies, such as fire alarms. Alternatively, the central station 4 may be configured to manage another type of emergency, such as a traffic accident. The operation of the emergency response system is similar in all the above situations and will be explained with the help of the example of a cardiac emergency.

Abstract

The present invention relates to an emergency response system. The emergency response system (10) includes a central station (4) for receiving information about emergency events, whereby location information of victims is provided and stored in a look-up table (6) of said central station (4). The central station addresses the list (7) of publicly available energizable emergency response devices and selects the appropriate device. The central station (4) sends a trigger signal by means of a suitable communication network (3) to selected remotely energizable emergency response equipment (14) comprising communication means (13) for The signaling means (15) are activated upon receipt of said trigger signal. The activatable emergency response device (14) also includes storage means (11) configured to store the location information of the emergency response device and the provided location information of the victim. Upon receipt of an appropriate signal from the communication device (13), the signaling device (15) begins broadcasting a message configured to attract as many potential emergency responders as possible to the victim. The emergency response device (14) includes a navigation device (20) configured to provide a victim with a route that is fed back to a responder by a user interface. The invention also relates to a method for calling an emergency responder and for routing said responder to a victim.
