5 results about "Macular Pigment" patented technology

Macular pigment is comprised of Zeaxanthin and Lutein, which are found in the center of the macula (fovea) at a natural 2:1 ratio. MPOD (Macular Pigment Optical Density) is important for three specific reasons:

Fundus image processing method, fundus image processing device, fundus image processing program, and storage medium storing the program

An ocular fundus image processing apparatus (1) includes: an image input unit (3) that acquires a first ocular fundus image generated by irradiating an ocular fundus of a subject with excitation light of a blue wavelength and a second ocular fundus image generated by irradiating the ocular fundus of the subject with excitation light of a green wavelength; a model generation unit (7) that generates three completed learning models for predicting correction coefficients for calculating a macular pigment amount of the subject from input images including the first ocular fundus image and the second ocular fundus image by training using three different initial values; a coefficient prediction unit (9) that predicts three correction coefficients by inputting the input images including the first ocular fundus image and the second ocular fundus image to the three completed learning models; a coefficient derivation unit (11) that calculates a statistical value using the three correction coefficients as a target and derives the correction coefficients of the subject as a statistical value; and a pigment amount calculation unit (13) that calculates the macular pigment amount of the subject based on the first ocular fundus image and the correction coefficients of the subject.

Macular pigment density analysis method and system based on multispectral imaging and deep learning, and storage medium

The application discloses a macular pigment optical density analysis method and system based on multispectral imaging and deep learning and a storage medium. The method comprises the following steps: collecting multispectral fundus images of a human eye retina under narrow-band wavelengths and performing registration; automatically segmenting a macular region and a foveal region by using a pre-trained deep learning segmentation model; extracting multispectral features from the segmented region; inputting the features into a deep regression model with physical information constraints to output the macular pigment optical density values of each position; and finally generating an MPOD spatial distribution map and performing visualization. The application innovatively introduces a physical information constraint neural network, integrates the Beer-Lambert law as a physical loss term into model training, significantly improves the accuracy, robustness, interpretability and device independence of MPOD quantification, overcomes the technical defects of existing subjective methods and traditional optical imaging methods, and can provide a powerful tool for ophthalmic disease screening and monitoring.

Bimodal method for detection and measurement of macular pigments in retina tissue

A system and method are provided for bimodal detection and / or imaging of macular pigments. Fundus autofluorescence spectroscopy is applied in a first and a second region of an eye to measure fluorescence values from the fluorescing pigment (e.g., lipofuscin). The first region can be a macula, which has a higher density of macular pigments, and the second region can be in the peripheral retina, which has a lower density of macular pigments. Fundus reflection spectroscopy is applied in the first and a second region of an eye, as a baseline image, to determine absorptions due to other pigments (e.g., melanin) than the macular pigments and the fluorescing pigment. The density of macular pigments is determined using the measures fluorescence values and the absorptions due to other pigments.

Ophthalmic devices comprising light stable mimics of macular pigments and other visible light filters

An ophthalmic device containing a visible light filter is described. The present invention provides an ophthalmic device that is the product of a free radical reaction of a reactive mixture comprising: one or more monomers suitable for manufacturing ophthalmic devices; a first visible light filter compound having a maximum visible light absorption between 430 nm and 480 nm and a full width at half maximum (FWHM) of at least 35 nm and at most 150 nm at the maximum visible light absorption, wherein the first visible light filter compound is photostable, and wherein the first visible light filter compound has a concentration of at least 7740 L·mol⁻¹. ‑1 .cm ‑1 The device contains a molar extinction coefficient and a second visible light filter compound having a maximum visible light absorption between 480 nm and 530 nm and a full width at half maximum (FWHM) of at least 50 nm and at most 150 nm. The reactive monomer mixture may also contain a third visible light filter compound. These devices can provide one or more visually beneficial effects, including enhanced macular pigment optical density, improved color perception and color enhancement, and reduced visual artifacts.
