Environmental noise compensation in teleconferencing

A method of compensating for environmental noise during a teleconference may involve: estimating, by a control system, a current speech spectrum corresponding to speech of remote teleconference participants; estimating, by the control system, a current noise spectrum corresponding to environmental noise in a local environment in which a local teleconference participant is located; calculating, by the control system, a current speech intelligibility index (SII) based, at least in part, on the current speech spectrum and the current noise spectrum; determining, by the control system and based at least in part on the current SII, whether to make an adjustment of a local audio system used by the local teleconference participant, wherein the determining involves evaluating the current SII according to one or more target SII parameters; and updating at least one of the one or more target SII parameters responsive to user input corresponding to a playback volume change.

Method of determining a perceptual impact of reverberation on the perceptual quality of a signal, and computer program product

The invention relates to a method of determining a perceptual impact of an amount of echo or an amount of reverberation in a degraded audio signal on a perceptual quality of the degraded audio signal, wherein the degraded audio signal is received from an audio transmission system, the degraded audio signal being obtained by a transmission of a reference audio signal by the audio transmission system to provide the degraded audio signal. The method comprises performing a windowing operation on the degraded audio signal and the reference audio signal by multiplying the degraded audio signal and the reference audio signal with a window function to produce degraded digital audio samples and reference digital audio samples. A local estimate of the amount of echo or the amount of reverberation is determined based on the degraded digital audio samples and the reference digital audio samples.

Ambient noise compensation in teleconferencing

A method of compensating for ambient noise during a teleconference may involve estimating, by a control system, a current speech spectrum corresponding to a speech of a remote teleconference participant; estimating, by the control system, a current noise spectrum corresponding to ambient noise in a local environment in which a local teleconference participant is located; calculating, by the control system, a current speech intelligibility index (SII) based at least in part on the current speech spectrum and the current noise spectrum; determining, by the control system and based at least in part on the current SII, whether to adjust a local audio system used by the local teleconference participant, where the determining involves evaluating the current SII according to one or more target SII parameters; and updating at least one of the one or more target SII parameters in response to a user input corresponding to the playback volume change.

Conference system with reduced acoustic feedback

A conference system (400) comprising: a central server (401); a plurality of conference units (411, 412, 413, 511), each conference unit having a microphone (421, 422, 423) and a loudspeaker (431, 432, 433); and a network (103) connecting the conference units (411, 412, 413; 511) to a central server (401). A central server (401) generates a mixed signal (450) containing contributions of speaker signals (441, 443) from a subset of conference units (411, 413) with microphones (421, 423) in an on state, and the central server (401) is configured to downlink the mixed signal (450) to the conference units (411, 412, 413). The at least one conference unit (411, 413) is configured to subtract the estimated contribution (591) of its own speaker signal (441, 443) from the received mixed signal (451, 453) to generate a speaker signal (471, 473) for its speaker output, the speaker signal (471, 473) containing the contribution of the speaker signal (441, 443; 541) from a subset of the conference units (411, 413) but subtracting the own speaker signal of the at least one conference unit.

Voice processing method, smart terminal and storage medium

A voice processing method, apparatus and system, a smart terminal, an electronic device (800) and a storage medium. The method includes: obtaining audio information in a conference process (S101, S201); generating a call flow and a recognition flow, respectively, according to the audio information (S102), where the call flow is used for a voice call, and the recognition flow is used for voice recognition; and sending the call flow and the recognition flow respectively (S103, S207). By means of the technical solution of respectively generating the call flow and the recognition flow based on the audio information, determined conference content corresponding to the audio information has more presentation dimensions and is richer, and thus the accuracy of the conference is improved, the intelligence and quality of the conference are improved, and the conference experience of users is further improved.

Spatial audio for video telephony

Examples of the present disclosure relate to spatial audio for video telephony in which two or more participants participate in the video telephony using different devices, but at the same acoustic location. The apparatus identifies two or more participant devices of the video phone at the acoustic location, where the participant devices provide images for the composite image for one or more recipients in the video phone. The at least one identified participant device provides an audio signal to the video phone such that the audio signal corresponds to the composite image. The apparatus also determines a location of the image from the identified participant device in the composite image, and associates audio signals from two or more participant devices with the image from the identified participant device in the composite image. The apparatus also adjusts the direction of the audio signal from the identified participant devices to increase the angle from the center so as to counteract audio leakage between the identified participant devices and render audio from the identified participant devices to the adjusted direction.

Spatialized voice feedback

Systems and methods for providing spatialized voice feedback for video conferences are provided. A computer-implemented method includes receiving a configuration for voice feedback for a client device including a spatial audio configuration including an apparent distance and direction. The method further includes receiving a first audio stream from a remote server. The method further includes receiving a second audio stream from an audio input device of the client device including a voice of a user of the client device. The method further includes playing the first audio stream on a first channel of an audio output device connected to the client device and a modified second audio stream on a second channel of the audio output device, in which the modified second audio stream is configured to cause the user of the client device to hear the voice of the user coming from the apparent distance and direction.

Delay estimation for performing echo cancellation for co-located devices

An audio transmission is received by a participant computing device. The participant computing device is one of a plurality of participant computing devices of a participant cohort that are co-located. Matched filters are generated based on the transmission that are configured to predict at least a portion of audio caused by playback of the transmitted audio signal. Each of the matched filters includes coefficients. An audio signal is captured with an audio capture device. The captured audio signal corresponds to audio produced by playback of the transmitted audio signal with audio output devices of devices of the participant cohort. A matched filter is identified that most accurately predicts the audio signal. A delay estimate is generated based on a predictive contribution of one of the coefficients of the matched filter.

Semi-global muting

The present disclosure is directed towards a semi-global mute system and method. In one example, a method for muting communication devices includes receiving a message indicating the semi-global mute switch has been activated. The method further includes upon receiving the message: preventing a co-located communication device from receiving the audio signals transmitted from the first audio communication device, permitting the first audio communication device to transmit signals to the remote communication device, and permitting the first audio communication device and the co-located communication device to receive audio signals transmitted from the remote communication device.
