Problems solved by technology

Additionally, once an infusion device is placed on the skin, it is often not possible to change the orientation of the device and associated tubing, or remove the tubing from the body without removing the cannula from the patient's skin
Additionally, the high profile of the infusion set is unsatisfactory, making placement and covering of the infusion set difficult and uncomfortable to use
Also, introducing the infusion set into the skin is complicated and requires two hands to achieve

Embodiment Construction

[0070] [63] Embodiments of the present invention relate to infusion devices for delivering substances into the subcutaneous layer of a patient's skin.

[0071] [64] In general, the exemplary infusion set disclosed herein includes a positioning patch with a cannula that is introduced into the subcutaneous layer of the patient's skin to deliver a substance, and a kit. The kit can be coupled to the localized patch to deliver a substance to the localized patch.

[0072] [65] Now refer to Figure 1-7 , said figure shows an exemplary embodiment of an infusion set positioning patch 100 according to the present invention. Typically, localized patch 100 may be used in conjunction with a kit (described below) to deliver a substance into a patient.

[0073] [66] Positioning patch 100 includes a base 110 , a cannula 130 , a septum 150 , and an adhesive portion 170 . The cannula 130 of the positioning patch 100 can be introduced into the subcutaneous layer of the patient's skin through ...

Abstract

An infusion device including a site and a set for delivery of a substance to a patient. The site can include a cannula that is introduced into a subcutaneous layer of skin of the patient. The set can be coupled to the site by, for example, placing the set over the site and moving the set from an unlocked to a locked position. The substance can then be delivered through the set to the site, and from the site into the patient through the cannula. The set can be oriented at multiple rotational orientations with respect to the site, and can be coupled and uncoupled with the site multiple times.

Description

technical field [0001] 【1】The present invention relates to an infusion device for delivering a substance into a patient. Background technique [0002] 【2】The infusion equipment is used to infuse substances such as drugs into the subcutaneous layer of the patient's skin. Typically, an infusion set includes a cannula that is inserted into the patient's skin, and a tube that leads from the infusion set to an infusion pump, for example, to deliver the substance. [0003] [3] In existing designs, it is usually necessary to introduce the cannula of the infusion device into the skin while maintaining the device in a given orientation so that the pipeline system extends toward the infusion pump. Furthermore, once an infusion set is placed on the skin, it is often not possible to change the orientation of the set and associated tubing, or to remove the tubing from the body without removing the cannula from the patient's skin. Furthermore, the high profile of the infusion set is uns...
