[0020] In order to facilitate understanding of the present invention, a conventional method of providing resuscitation of a victim will be described.
[0021] During the resuscitation of a victim of sudden cardiac arrest, rescuers are often programmed to apply a defibrillating shock from an automated electronic defibrillator (AED) and deliver intervals of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to stimulate circulation until Re-establish the normal cycle. In many cases, the resuscitation protocol guides the rescuer through the AED using voice prompts. For example, a victim of asystole due to ventricular fibrillation may receive several defibrillation shocks after a predetermined interval of CPR in which the rescuer provides precardiac compressions and breathing assistance to the victim.
[0022] Those of ordinary skill in the art will appreciate that precardiac compression during CPR is believed to provide artificial circulation, which improves the victim's chances of survival. ...
