Problems solved by technology

This problem becomes worse in heterogeneous environments (for example, mixed aix / linux / x86 / ppc64 clusters), where the file system manager may not be able to access a certain disk or may not be able to access multiple disks

Embodiment Construction

[0013] GPFS is a multi-node file system based on the shared disk model. In this type of system, the disk subsystem can be accessed locally from each node without direct access. In an AIX environment, this functionality is provided by the Virtual Shared Disk (VSD) component through High Performance Switching (HPS). In a Linux environment or an AIX environment using other interconnection infrastructures, a Network Shared Disk (NSD) is used to provide this functionality. GPFS uses NSD (or VSD if HPS is present) to provide high-speed access to data to applications running on computer nodes.

[0014] NSD nodes can be created on different types of logical disks. During the creation of an NSD, one or more NSD nodes with direct access to the disk subsystem can be designated as one or more servers, so that nodes that do not have a path to the disk subsystem can reach the disk through nodes that have a path to the disk subsystem system.

[0015] Each GPFS file system has a file syst...

Abstract

The invention prevents the document access of the fault node in the multi-node computer system. The method transmits the insulated command to the disc in the sub system accessible by the fault node when receiving the node fault indication, transmits the insulated command to the server if the insulated command transmitting to the disc is failed, which can access at least a disc of the fault node in the accessible disc sub system to prevent the error node from accessing the disc in the disc sub system. If the insulated command transmitting to the server does not prevent the fault node from accessing all of the discs in the disc sub system, the command is transmitted to at least one disc server in the other accessible disc sub system to prevent the fault node from accessing the disc in the disc sub system. The insulated command is transmitted to respective server until preventing the fault node from accessing all of the discs in the disc sub system or preventing from transmitting the insulated command to all of the servers. The insulated command may be transmitted to the disc server which is able to access the disc sub system and transmitted to all of the servers in parallel or forward to respective server.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to controlling access to files in a disk subsystem, and in particular to restricting access to files. Background technique [0002] A file system is a computer program that allows other applications to store and retrieve data on a medium (eg, a disk drive). A file structure is the organization of data on a disk drive. A shared disk file system is a file system in which a file structure located on one or more disks is accessible by multiple file systems running on a shared computer or node (possibly including one or more data processing units). A multi-node file system is a file system that allows shared access to files across multiple nodes or multiple disk drives on a cluster of nodes. [0003] In a multi-node file system, such as IBM's General Parallel File System (GPFS), one node in a cluster of nodes is designated as the manager of the file system. This node controls the functionality of the file system an...
