Abstract

A door opening / closing device in which a vehicle body and a door are pivotaly joined by a hinge member and in which a damper for applying braking force to the door when it is opened is provided directly connected to the hinge member. The hinge member (10) has a first hinge arm (11) fixed to a floor (60), a pin shaft (15) fixed to the first hinge arm (11) and projected outward from the first hingearm (11), and a second hinge arm (13) pivotaly joined to the pin shaft (15) and fixed to the lower end of a lower door (41). The damper (20) has a rotor (21) joined to a projection (159) of the pin shaft (15), a housing (23) pivotally attached to the rotor (21) and fixed to the lower door (41), and a braking means (29) provided in the housing (23) and applying urging force to the housing (23) when the housing (23) is rotated relative to the rotor (21).
