Embodiment Construction

[0041] refer to the attached figure 1 , the building panels 1 are substantially rectangular in plan view and have opposing major end edge surfaces 2 interconnected by opposing major side edge surfaces 3 defining a surrounding A perimeter edge 4 consisting of alternating oppositely inwardly stepped portions 5 and oppositely outwardly stepped portions 6 . Panel 1 comprises one inwardly stepped portion 5 and one outwardly stepped portion 6 or protrusion along each major end edge surface 2 and two inwardly stepped portions 5 and two along each major side edge surface 3 Outwardly stepped portion 6 or protrusion. The length of each inwardly stepped portion 5 is configured to accommodate a complementary outwardly stepped portion 6 of a coplanar or orthogonal adjacent similar panel 1 , the stepped portions 5 , 6 being configured to wrap around a major side surface perpendicular to the panel 1 . The panel 1 has two degrees of rotational symmetry when the central axis 60 extending 16 ...

Abstract

A building panel (1) has a major plane and is configured to interengage with at least one other adjacent like panel. The panel (1) has two major side surfaces (16) which are parallel to the major plane, and four major edge surfaces (2, 3) forming a perimeter (4) of the panel (1). An over-centre camlock mechanism (7) is retractably extendable from each major edge surface (2, 3). Each major edge surface (2, 3) has a recess with an associated recess (17) at each major side surface (16), so that each recess is adjacent to at least one other recess. There is a pin in each recess and any over-centre camlock mechanism (7) is latchingly engageable with the pin in any one of the recesses of the adjacent like panel so that the major planes of the two panels, when interengaged, are selectively parallel and coincident or perpendicular.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a building panel, and more particularly to a building panel that is mounted in an inter-engaging manner with at least one other adjacent similar building panel. Background technique [0002] WO 2004 / 074593 discloses a quadrilateral building panel having a rotational symmetry of at least two degrees when rotated about a central axis extending perpendicular to a plane comprising the main plane of the panel. The structure can be constructed using a plurality of such panels mounted in interengagement, with adjacent panels secured to each other by locking cams. However, the document does not disclose how the locking cams can secure adjacent building panels to each other such that their major planes are substantially parallel and aligned or substantially perpendicular. [0003] It is an object of the present invention to provide a building panel that is arranged to inter-engage with at least one other adjacent similar panel ...
